Lesson Learned

Rachel went on Grandpa Steve's work route this afternoon. Grandpa Steve learned a very valuable lesson today.

He learned not to leave his car keys in the ignition when Rachel is in the car. You never know when she'll lock the automatic doors before getting out, leaving you locked out of your car! The door was ajar just enough to get a yard stick in and put pressure on the automatic lock, only after a wire hanger wasn't strong enough.

LOL, the valuable lessons a 4 year old can teach us. I wouldn't put it past Alexis to do the same if she was in that situation.

My mom learned that same lesson...except she left us kids (all 4) in the car while it was running and my youngest brother put it into gear and we rolled into the lake. Thank goodness it was shallow and a passerby stopped and got us all out. :)

Seriously though, she probably only thought she was helping.

Oh my gosh Shannon! How scary! Yes, I know Rachel thought she was helping. LOL. Like I said, my FIL learned a lesson - not to keep his keys in the ignition. LOL.

Ohhhhh....yeah...been there for this experience, too! Remember when Reid was about 10 weeks old and I got Ellie out of the car for gymnastics and closed the door...forgetting that my keys were in the diaper bag...on the front seat...and the doors were locked! It was freezing cold out, and there I was with a 3 year old with me out of the car, and a 10 week old in the car. The police came...and on and on....and eventually, a friend of mine came and gave me her car to drive home to get the extra set of keys so I could unlock the door. Reid slept through the 1 plus hour ordeal. Gotta love these memories!
