Kindergarten Graduation

It seems like such a short time ago that I was blogging about Hannah's Kindergarten Graduation, and now, here I am blogging about Rachel's.

Not much more to say than it was short, sweet, and to the point.

The class proceeded in with their little blue graduation hats, the teacher said a few words, Rachel got to lead the class in the Pledge of Allegiance one last time, they recited a poem, and then the certificates and report cards were passed out and then there was cookies and juice on the patio, and a lot of picture taking.
Leading the class, and audience, in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Receiving her Kindergarten Certificate.
With her school pal and church pal, Isaiah.
Our Kindergarden Graduate.
One last hug from her teacher.
Following the ceremony and reception on the patio, the kids were allowed to go home, their school year was officially over. And now Rachel looks forward to July 29, when she'll be a first grader, who stays at school all day, who eats lunch at school, and gets to play on the big playground!!

Kindergarten Play Day

The end of the school year is near and that is evident all across the school campus, the Kindergarten playground was no exception for festivities. Today, we had a Kindergarten play day on the playground all morning long and finished up the morning with lunch together.

Four of the only five girls in Rachel's class.
The kids all had so much fun. We had some water games planned, but the weather was so chilly this morning we needed to readjust our game plan. But they all had fun nonetheless. Thankfully, I threw our parachute into my bag of tricks on the way out the door this morning and the kids absolutely LOVED it! They loved trying to keep the water balloons in the air and bouncing it about the parachute. So many laughs for this game.We finished off our busy morning with hot dogs, chips, and watermelon. And because I thought it would be hot mid day, I had ice cream cups for dessert, which was still a huge hit! And the kids all enjoyed having lunch together.

Magnet Open House

The school that Rachel and Hannah attend is one of the few remaining Magnet schools. It's a public school that gives attention to a special subject in addition to their regular studies. Our school is a Magnet school for the visual and performing arts. Which means in these times of budget cuts where art and performances have been cut from the budget, our school still sets aside time for both.

This morning, the school hosted a Magnet School Open House. All throughout the school campus, there was artwork displayed, performances going on, things to see and do. All a result of things our kids have learned over the course of the last year. This was the first year I had two girls participating and it was fun to see the different things their teachers displayed, etc.Rachel had her snowman artwork on display and she was very proud of her snowman. Rachel's class participated in the morning by demonstrating to a class of third graders how to make a rainbow with curly ribbon. They did a great job at being the teacher to kids that were older than they were. It was a fun and jam packed morning and I'm so glad I was able to go about the school seeing all the things our talented students did throughout the school year.

Memorial Day Weekend Camping

We went camping over Memorial Day Weekend to a favorite camping destination, San Elijo, right outside of Encinitas. There's usually more of a larger group that goes camping, but only one family was able to secure reservations for the holiday weekend, and because we tent camp, and they have a trailer, we were invited to join them for the weekend.

Rachel loves camping. And it gets easier and easier with each trip. She knows the routine and does great! Here's some cute pictures of Rachel from the weekend:

Morning strolls on the beach,
combing it for what was washed ashore in the night.
No camping trip would be complete
without at least one trip to VG's Bakery.

Scott and Paula's kids have outgrown the smaller boogie boards,
therefore Rachel and Hannah each became the new owner of them!
There weren't any kids her own age to play with and hang out with this trip, but the big kids all did great at including her and even played "Go Fish" with her.

A trip to the beach wouldn't be complete without a sandcastle, or two.
Paula's beauty trailer painted toenails to look like ladybugs,
which Rachel loved!

We had a great time camping and relaxing with our friends. Rachel's already very excited for going camping for a whole week come July! That trip will include some friends her age!
